Terms of Service

Welcome to Jarada. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Jarada platform, including our website, mobile applications, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Platform. We recommend that you read these Terms carefully before using our services.

Jarada is a marketplace that connects students and learners with tutors. We facilitate the booking and payment process but do not directly provide tutoring services.

To use the Platform, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian
• Have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts
• Not be prohibited from using the Platform under applicable laws
• Provide accurate and complete registration information

Parents or guardians may book tutoring sessions on behalf of minors. In such cases, the parent or guardian accepts these Terms on behalf of the minor and is responsible for the minor's use of the Platform.

To access certain features of the Platform, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You may not share your account credentials with others or allow others to access your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

For All Users:

• Use the Platform only for lawful purposes
• Treat other users with respect and professionalism
• Not engage in harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior
• Not upload or transmit harmful content, viruses, or malware
• Not attempt to circumvent the Platform's payment system
• Not misrepresent your identity or qualifications

For Students:

• Attend scheduled sessions or cancel within the allowed timeframe
• Pay for services through the Platform
• Provide honest feedback and reviews

For Tutors:

• Provide accurate information about qualifications and experience
• Deliver sessions as described and scheduled
• Maintain professional conduct during all interactions
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
• Not solicit students to transact outside the Platform

Jarada provides an online marketplace that connects students with tutors. Our services include:

• Tutor discovery and search functionality
• Booking and scheduling tools
• Secure payment processing with escrow protection
• Communication tools between users
• Review and rating systems
• Dispute resolution support

Important: Jarada is a marketplace platform. We do not employ tutors, nor do we guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of tutoring services. Tutors are independent contractors responsible for their own services.

Service Fees

Jarada charges a service fee of 5% on all transactions. This fee is automatically deducted from tutors' earnings and covers platform maintenance, payment processing, customer support, and dispute resolution services.

Escrow Protection

All payments are held in escrow until sessions are completed and confirmed by students. This protects both parties and ensures fair transactions.

Payment Terms

• Students must pay in full at the time of booking
• Tutors receive payment after session completion and confirmation
• Payouts are processed according to the tutor's selected payout schedule
• All prices are displayed in Nigerian Naira (₦)

Pricing

Tutors set their own hourly rates. Jarada does not control or guarantee pricing. Students are responsible for reviewing and accepting pricing before booking.

Jarada implements a verification process for tutors to enhance trust and safety. This may include:

• Identity verification through government-issued ID
• Credential and qualification verification
• Phone number verification
• Profile review by our team

While we take reasonable steps to verify tutor information, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all claims made by tutors. Students should exercise their own judgment when selecting tutors.

Cancellation Policy

• Students may cancel bookings according to the cancellation window specified at booking
• Cancellations within the allowed window receive a full refund
• Late cancellations may be subject to cancellation fees
• Tutors who cancel sessions repeatedly may face account restrictions

Refunds

• Refunds for cancellations are processed within 5-10 business days
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method
• Disputed sessions are handled through our dispute resolution process

If a dispute arises between a student and tutor, Jarada provides a dispute resolution process:

1. Either party may open a dispute through the Platform
2. Both parties are given the opportunity to present their case
3. Our support team reviews the evidence and makes a determination
4. Decisions regarding refunds are final and binding

We encourage users to attempt to resolve issues directly before opening a formal dispute. Our team is available to mediate and facilitate resolution.

The Platform and its content, features, and functionality are owned by Jarada and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Users retain ownership of content they create or upload to the Platform. By uploading content, you grant Jarada a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Platform.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Platform or its content without our express written permission.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Jarada provides the Platform "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• We are not responsible for the conduct, quality, or safety of tutoring sessions
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid to Jarada in the past 12 months

Jarada connects students with tutors but does not supervise, direct, or control tutoring sessions. Users interact with each other at their own risk.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Jarada, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Platform
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
• Any content you submit to the Platform

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time:

• You may delete your account through the Platform settings
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
• We may terminate accounts for any reason with reasonable notice

Upon termination, you lose access to the Platform and your account data. Outstanding payments and obligations survive termination.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes:

• We will post the updated Terms on this page
• We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of the Terms
• For significant changes, we may notify you via email or Platform notification

Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
